Friends of a teenage drug dealer have strongly denied a gun was present when he was fatally stabbed by a buyer who is claiming self-defence at his murder trial.
Michael Brack arranged to meet Ryan John Howes at shops on the Gold Coast in November 2015 and was killed when their deal went awry.
Howes had gone to buy 14 grams of cannabis for $160 but ended up stabbing the 16-year-old in the neck, his Brisbane Supreme Court murder trial has heard.
His defence team has argued he heard "two clicks" of what he believed to be a gun during the altercation.
During evidence on Tuesday, the jury heard Michael's friend Reece Rowe had a replica pistol.
But both he and his girlfriend, Reality Marschke-Hand, have denied it was taken to the planned deal with Howes which turned sour when Howes said he needed to collect money from home for the drugs.
"It was in Reece's backpack ... in my bedroom, just on the floor," Ms Marschke-Hand told the court.
Mr Rowe denied his friend was stabbed after pulling a gun on his accused murderer.
But defence barrister John Griffin argued Mr Rowe had lied to cover up the fact Michael had pulled a gun first.
Ms Marschke-Hand was questioned about whether they had arranged a deal or had gone, armed with a gun, to rip off Howes.
She said they hadn't planned to rob Howes and she believed he was there to buy drugs.
Whether a gun was drawn before the fatal stabbing will be a critical question for the jury.
Crown prosecutor Glen Cash told them they had to decide if Howe was acting in self-defence or if he intended to cause grievous bodily harm or death to Michael.
The jury were also shown texts between Michael and Mr Rowe, in which they appeared to celebrate acts of violence.
"Just sliced someone with a samurai sword bro," Michael wrote about a week before his death.
"Hahahahah what the duck you loose c*** where is it at," Mr Rowe responded.
A few days later, Mr Rowe suggested "Yeah lad lets actual bash someone who can scrap back we would have rawTd that crash junkie."(sic)
Michael sent a message back saying "AHHahahah yes c*** i ended up breaking that c**** cheek bone on Saturday night."(sic)
Later that day, Mr Rowe said he had bashed people and wanted to "get loose" on the weekend, which was when Michael died.
"Just went roid mode i was still singing hard and went bananas on the c**** with a fence pailing!"(sic)
The trial continues.
